Keyless entry/go

Hi all I'm new here.
I have a clk cabriolet w209 53reg, over the las year the keyless entry failed on one door then the other, also the keyless start failed.however keyless entry and locking still operates via the boot lock/ switch.
I replaced the drivers side door handle thinking it may solve the issue, but still nothing....:fail
Any ideas or advice would be greatly accepted.
Would I need to have the new handle activated by a star machine?

I thought these Keyless Go handles were plug and play and no need for Star??

Have you got a MB indy (specialist) close by that could assist?

I think I may have to do that. This keyless go system seems real confusing ,,,witchcraft

That's correct.

A common problem is KG wires breaking in the door hinge area That could explain the door issues and the start problem as both door antennas are used to sense if the key is within the car (for starting) as well as the usual external (un)locking operations. There is a separate antenna in the boot which may explain why that's still working.

Alternatively there could be a wiring problem elsewhere. The KG system is fiendishly complex and it might need STAR to help diagnose the problem.
