Kph to mph

Hi all. I have read that you can change the readout by taking the car to a garage and they use a star tool.
Mercland will do it for me. I called a garage closer to were I live and they said if they change it, it will also change the analoge display from MPH to KPH. is this right ?

No its not right, go to Mercland. You need someone that has knowledge of how to do it properly using STAR developer mode.

Why bother? The main speedo reads in MPH and if you go abroad you need KMH.

If I get uk mode disabled can I not choose between the two.
also my hands are in the way of the analog speedo and its hard to see.

Yes you can choose between the two. If you went abroad it would take seconds to change it back to kmph via the cluster menu.

You need UK mode deletion carried out using STAR developer mode. You will then be able to select via the cluster menu if you want to display digital speed in mph, kmph or outside temp.

Not available on all cars, if you contact Comand.co.uk they can tell you if it can be done and the price.

Took it to my local indy and they changed it from uk mode to japan.
MPH is now displayed but when you turn the ignition on I get a beeping to tell me to fasten my setbelt which I can live with BUT the MPH is not correct.
sat nav says 30 MPH cruise control says 30 MPH speedo say 30 MPH BUT digital says 20 MPH.
they tried different settings but the digital speedo is always 10 MPH out.
so in the end they put it back to KPH and gave me my money back.
any thoughts ???

Yes - talk to Alfie or Richard www.comandonline.co.uk - they sorted my instrument cluster using genuine MB STAR and it has been perfect ever since.

Mercland disabled my cornering fog function (at my request!) which requires STAR developer mode, but could not find UK mode deletion in my car's setup. Seems like it's not available on all cars. Shame: I'd have liked to replace the km/h display with outside temperature.
