That's why my typings so bad.
The clutch is a coil of wire so a resistance check should tell if it's complete or open circuit.
It is fed by a constant (ign on) 12v dc which then returns back to the ECU where it is shorted to Gnd to create the 12v across the clutch.
So when NOT operating there should be 12v each side of the coil, thus ov across the coil.
When it IS operating there will be 12v feed and the return side will go to Gnd. this is called active low.
If the connector is parted and 12v is fed into one side and the other is shorted to Gnd the clutch should operate, just like a light bulb would illuminate.
If the clutch is u/s then I think the clutch is available separately for about £100 + vat.
