Late W124 320E - cheap and not long left

I can't believe it went for £520.

I would have had it if I wasn't at work where you can't log into ebay :(

That is a LOT of car for £500 !!

Been at home all day - I should have checked this forum sooner since for that price, would just look at it as a rental for the duration of the MOT and tax!

Anyone want to sell me a runabout whilst my barge hunt continues?

There's quite a few nice 124 estates, just that most of them will sell for good money if they're clean, well looked after and with reasonable mileage, low number of owners and a good service history.

I think the car in this thread sold too cheaply to be honest. I think that 'down south' it's worth almost double the amount it went for - a well written advert and better pictures etc might have helped it fetch a bit more.

Yeah distance is definitely a factor, It would take a pretty hardcore enthusiast to travel halfway across the country for a car.

It's only near Leeds!

2.5hrs back to London if you give it a stretch;)

that's nearly a week in "London years"

You have to remember, the aveage Londoner doesn't understand that their cars will actually go further than 5 miles, that they can buy petrol outside of the M25 and that life actually exists (albeit in a very primitive form) north of Watford Gap :D

Remember you can't drive there though, or how would you get both cars back!?

Couple hours on the train and Bob's your mother's live in lover:D

I've flown to Glasgow and Newcastle in the past for motors from ebay. But I was mad to do it ;)

London to Leeds - about 200 miles each way, so that's nearly 600 miles as a round trip if you get a lift there.

Quite a few quid in petrol, plus two people would lose a day travelling etc.

Certainly takes the shine off a £500 car to me!

True.

But it's a £1000 to me;), I get free train travel and have family oooop north as originally from there. So £40 in juice after a night on the lash with my mates and brother.

I'm thinking from a personal POV.

a couple of hours on the train, get the seller to meet up with you at the station, no stress

Still going to take a whole day for the buyer, plus I reckon a train ticket to Leeds + 200 miles worth of petrol will still cost quite a bit.

I've travelled great distances for cars in the past, but generally for £500 type cars I wouldn't go to quite such lengths.

Not saying this is the case for everyone, but it just isn't worth a whole day's time + money to me IMHO.

It depends how much you want the car, I guess.

I would have given a day up to collect that one, personally.

Are you for real??? Things exist outside the M25??? I always find that it is like Dark City...everyone knows the way to Shelley Beach but when it comes to giving the actual directions they just can't.

Tried to get outside the M25 many a time but The Nothing held me back!:bannana:

I know a few people who live in Leeds. In fact I drove there and back a few months ago, and I know how long it takes and how much petrol it uses too! :D

OT - but there's a hell of a lot less MBs than there are down here. Would be even less if we keep buying up cars on eBay and nicking them for down 'ere! ;)
