Latest Windows update problems

Installed a big update for MS Office yesterday and also a big update which popped up for MS Visio (which I'd never heard of).

Installed all of them on 2 work laptops and could not connect to a WiFi network afterwards. Tried the same updates on my own laptop and the same thing has happened.

Had to do system restores in the end. Very annoying.

Anybody else had issues with this latest update in the last couple of days?

All went fine here. Office update and Windows 8.1 Update 1, all 800+ MB of it.

All ok here too on my Win 7 with Office 2010 machine.

Maybe there were more than just Windows and Office updates - maybe a hardware update for your wireless card on the laptops, which has been known to cause problems on laptops, as laptop makers will tweak a standard wireless card driver and therefore only the manufacturer driver will work with it eg Dell use an Intel wireless network card which works only with a Dell driver. If a Windows update comes along which claims to be an update for the Intel driver it might not work.

All is well with my windows 8.1, although I find that E Bay freezes quite frequently if I use Internet Explorer yet if I log in via Mozilla it runs ok.

Anyone else have this problem ?

Dave it may be related to flash player updates. quite often i get browser freeze in chrome. for about the last year my youtube fullscreen is wonky and now i see chrome has a little sound icon at the top of the screen. random freeze for about 30 secs. I have not tried it in firefox because it is fairly random.

visio is for drawing network diagrams. My pc used to update gigabit lan driver a lot and quite often it would not work after. I got a newer one and now it seems to be fine.

Is you laptop still out ? i would like to try troubleshoot a bit for practice.

Have a look in your programs and see if a program called "search conduit" crept in as well, stopped my IE11 from working totally and Firefox is now pretty crappy, have now removed the program and all is back to normal.

My canon camera will no longer connect for tethered shooting but will still connect to transfer images.
Very annoying. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling canon drivers and software with no luck.
