Hi There

I have 10 litres of Halfords 15w/40 Enhanced Mineral Diesel Oil left over from when I owned a w124 E300D.....

I now have a w210 E300TD. Book suggests 5w/40 synthetic....could I used the old stuff instead without damaging the engine.

Many Thanks
EMH

NO! Your W210 has a turbocharger which will require the greater thermal stability of the synthetic oil to resist breakdown.

Thanks Grober....Shame......................For Sale....10 litres of oil.

How does it feel if you compare the two? I never driven a NA and apparently they are a wee slow...

Yeah that's true....the non turbo is slow off the lights and creeps up steep hills when compared to a modern car. However it's a brilliant motorway cruiser and accelerates well once the revs are up. The two cars are completly different though. The w210 is bigger, better soundproofed and the ride is better. However the w124 has a lots of glass making the cabin bright and airy feeling and is a joy to drive. The head gasket went on mine...I sometimes I wish I'd fixed it.
