Hi all,

Slightly off topic as this is for my Mustang not the Merc but I'm hoping someone may know the answer.

On the Mustang which is an American import there are 2 add on LEDs at the bottom of the bumper for reverse and fog lights. All works fine but whilst at the jetwash recently I managed to blast off most of the paint that was over the fog one that made it red.

It's been ok for the past 7 years but I guess it just couldn't hang on any more.

I've got some lens repair tape for now and put it over it and it works fine but I think it looks a bit naff...

I've seen you can get paint for lights and in red but all seem to be aerosol - for perspective that's only really about 10cm across and 3cm high - aerosol would be a nightmare as it's such a small area.

This is how it used to look before the paint came off...

Does anyone know if you can get a brush on red light paint at all? I've looked but can only seem to find amber.

Thanks in advance.

Available on well known auction sites and Amazon too.
I used Tamiya paint in my railway modelling days 🤫 - was good stuff.
Will it dry with a slightly transparent hue to it though so the bulbs will shine through?

The lens tape I have fitted whilst looking solid in the photo it is partly transparent so the light shines through but has a red glow.

Yep - that particular one is like a tinted clear lacquer, not an opaque paint.

Well, I did it yesterday...

And if I do say so myself, it looks pretty good!

Hopefully it will withstand the elements, but I don't think I need to worry about that this week...

Thanks again for the pointer - definitely a good idea!
