LHD/RHD Tyres

Would have thought so. Direction and run out lines are the key factors to modern tyres and how they get fitted in pairs across the axle.

No, rotational tyres would be the same whether on a RHD or LHD car. Does seem starnge to me.

Tyres are usually either asymmetrical or directional, but not both at the same time.

If you have a tyre that is both asymmetrical and directional, you'll need two different model of tyres, one for the RH and one for LH.

Asymmetrical tyres have 'Outside' marking, but not direction-of-rotation marking.

Directional tyres have direction-of-rotation marking, but no 'Outside' marking.

It is very rare for a tyre to be asymmetrical and directional... as said, you will then need different LH and RH tyres.

In the words of Alan Partridge. "I'm confused!"

Sorry mate. I thought they were tyres for left and right of the vehicle. Not actually for LHD & RHD.

I must start paying more attention. :wallbash:

Ant.

Google is your friend :D

This is from:

Left Hand Drive and Right Hand Drive Tyres - Page 2 - Tyres Zone - BRISKODA

'The LHD fitment is designed to compensate for road camber in left hand drive counties/vehicles and should only be fitted to left hand drive vehicle as this tyre may cause handling issues on a right hand drive vehicle. I would only recommend to fit the RHD fitment for use on UK roads.'

My 1988 Vauhall Astramax had slicks on it. Great in the dry.

Lotus used to have rotational and asymmetric tyres.

And staggered... so 4 different tyres

Choosing a spare tyre is a gamble with poor odds....

No spare.

Anyway more likely something will fall off than get a puncture.

As I'm sure I've mentioned, I got through 3 engines in my first car, and never had a puncture.

Would have made more sense to carry a spare engine...
