Lighting Improvement

if you fit these bulbs, presumably the headlight adjust function still works?

The bulbs have no effect on anything but your ability to see further in the dark ! Headlamp adjustment still works !

Could you please advise me on which bulbs a w203 c class would take - i would like to be able to see more too :-)

Thanks :-)

Ah i have found it on the powerbulbs site ..
h7 for dipped, h7 for main and 9006 for fog
Thanks anyway - but which bulbs give me the best and clearest light (best vision)

Also , what are the indicator bulbs - nice to get rid of the fried egg effect - would they be the same as the e class in the other post?

in a recent autoexpress test with 60 bulbs, 2 bulbs came out as their top choice for bulbs that offer 50% brighter compared to standard bulbs.

they are 1) Osram Silverstars 2) Philips VisionPlus

here is what autoexpress said about them

Osram Silver stars
Beam: 96.9m
The flagship bulb in Osram's bulb range, the silverstar's 75m figure was only a fraction better than that of arch-rivals Phillips, but it performed significantly better at 50m. Add a price advantage, and the Osram's plus 50 per cent competitor is our best buy

Philips VisionPlus
Beam: 95.1m
It's behind Osram's finest but Philips top-of-range option is superb bulb which performed comfortably ahead of the 30% premium versions, You can not ignore that performance, which is why the VisionPlus merits our recommended award.

I have personally tried these two bulbs and can highly recommend them as
there is definately difference over standard bulbs. Although I have not personally tried PIAA bulbs but autoexpress does not give them a very good rating in their test.

thanks for that willy - does anyone know which bulbs are the indicator ones please?

Although I have not personally tried PIAA bulbs but autoexpress does not give them a very good rating in their test.

It is not about 'PIAA' bulbs in general. It is about how good the PIAA 'extreme white' bulbs are. PIAA have different bulbs eg platinum and exteme are just 2. I doubt autoexpress have tested these.

I have just bought Osram H7 silverstars for my C220 dipped only to find the bulbs already fitted were GE Megalight plus 50's. A web search showed that they effectiveley have the same illumination qualities as silver stars. I also used my photo light meter, (Lunasix 3) and the readings at short and long range with one of each bulb fitted were identical . . .

So - I have just ordered a pair of PIAA extreme whites so we'll see how they compare. I currently have PIAA platinum sidelights and they are white, in fact an electric white - no yellow at all, superb
