losing power

hi folks

i have a 1991 12v 300e
it runs like a dream but today when i was going down the motorway at a steady 70 its lost power as if i had taken my foot off the pedal
and it would not respond until it went below 60 (2500 revs)
it happened a couple of times but again when it went below 60 it started to respond

if anyone as any ideas i would appreciate it

Do you have cruise control? If you do it may be sticking on / off

yes i do have cruise control but do not use it very much
i had used it in the morning before the car started playing around but not when i had the problem
Do you think that it may be coming on by itself

Do you have speed limiter? Have you knocked it on by mistake?

Yes, disconnect it for a while and try running your car.

no i do not have a speed limiter
I will disconnect the cruse control for a while has Ian as suggested
and let you know how i get on

Without limiter function I'm not sure how CC could do this unless it's ignoring accellerator input sometimes.

If it does it again try booting it as that should override any CC or limiter function.

i will take the car for a run on the weekend and try booting the car as you suggest and report back

hi folks

just an update on the loss of power
took the car for a run today and it was running like a dream for the first fifty miles or so then i had to stop for petrol
on leaving the garage as i hit seventy-ish the car died
i lifted my foot off the accelerator and then pressed it to the floor as suggested by diesel-man
the car sprung back to life and i carried on with my journey
then on the way back home after about ten miles the car lost power again
i took my foot off the peddle and then booted it and again it burst back to life and for the next fifty mile the car ran like a dream
if diesel-man or anyone else as any ideas on what could be the cause i would appreciate your comments
