Loss of power and no kickdown

Hi all,

I suspect from having read some other threads that I may have the same problem as them, but I would like to put my question to the wise folk on here.
My '06 CLK 320cdi showed the symptoms of low power and no kickdown on a trip today. When I got home, I let it cool down and tried it again. The symptoms are the same, but now the engine management light is on.
Is it safe to drive and has the collective any clue as to the cause?
Could you recommend an Indie to take it to in West Sussex if that is the route I have to go?

you need to get code from engine management via benz garage you are drive car in limp home mode.

i should be safe to drive, it's probably the infamous MAF problem

I doubt a MAF issue. The V6 does not tend to suffer.
