Lotus Motorbike

Unlikely to "Hit the streets" without any lights or overhanging mudguards.

Interesting to see it's twin rear shockers, rather than mono or single sided swing arm, which seem to be the norm nowadays.

I think it looks utterly impractical and ridiculously uncomfortable.

But my oh my isn't it beautiful - I want one.

Oh and it doesn't need lights to be road legal.

Not 100% about the overhanging mudguards either. I *think* that is also legal.

It is a lovely looking thing as Sp!ke says but not much shelter from the wind! Its got a sort of '60s classic cafe racer thing going on, very pretty!

I am aware of daytime only bikes, but think the front mudguard does need to be at least over centre.

There isn't much specific relating to mudguards in the SVA other than to say it needs a front mudguard.

If you consider front mudguards on off road or should I say dual sport bikes, the wheel isn't covered at all.

Rear mudguards aren't even a requirement.

This is really from the DfT, not something I just made up... :rolleyes:

Regulation 63 of “The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations
1986 (SI 1986/1078)” as amended.
Provides for the fitting of wings or mudguards to vehicles to prevent mud or water being thrown up by the wheels or tracks.
63(1) This regulation applies to:
(a) invalid carriages;
(b) heavy motor cars, motor cars and motor cycles, not being agricultural motor vehicles or pedestrian controlled vehicles;

63(2) Every vehicle to which this regulation
applies shall be equipped with wings or
other similar fittings to catch, so far as
practicable, mud or water thrown up by the
rotation of its wheels or tracks

Nothing about overhang or centrality at all...

I like it, especially the JPS one - it's obviously not a production model yet...no brake light.
And the fact there isn't even a launch date on the official site...
