Loud Whining noise

Hi

We have a 2003 W2112? E320cdi, having covered 136k miles with main full dealer history.

Last 6 months or so, we have noticed a whining noise coming from, which we suspect the Turbo, having my local Garage to check all hoses and pipes, not thoroughly but a basic look around whilst up on the Jig they said it is your turbo on its way out....

thou, lately the hissing has turned out to be a loud vibrant sound between 2-3,000 rpm and lessens after 3,000 rpm but is still loud, im suspecting anytime now my turbo is gonna pop.

Its never let me down in the 7 years i have owned it and is not fair to jump the boat and order a new E350cdi Sport...

can anyone assist please or put me in the right path in terms of what to check as a new turbo aint cheap

My car sometimes makes a loud whining noise too.

I have no turbo as it's a normally aspirated V8.

I think it's the wife.

136k and the turbo goes, unlucky but not unheard of. I'd maybe get a quote/2nd opinion from a Mercedes Specialist who knows these cars like the back of his hand. Olly at PCS in Horndean is just such a man.

@LTD, you need to get your wife a separate car mate, works like a treat

@*** - We are in Newcastle, any recommendations here on who to see as the Main Stealers have a bad history with me as i had to get MBUK on 3 occasions to sort out the mess they left.

Im thinking if it was the turbo then it would have gone, especially since the problem started 6 months ago[FONT=&quot][/FONT]

I'd do a search on here, i think the member chattonmill knows as he's from there. Alas I don't, the south and Glasgow are blessed with them
