Low miles owners be quick .... Cls55 Amg

Ouch indeed, I wouldn't pay that, just seems so wasteful... but maybe that's just me.

I see a lot of people say well it's only another £320 per year to the tax man. You have to earn pre tax about 5-600 quid extra to pay that difference. Each to their own but that seems steep to me when a '55' AMG is just as quick as a '63', maybe more so in the real world where torque rules.
Another part of the issue for me is what that top band will cost in a few years - they're bound to come after the top emission band the hardest for any future re-jigging of the VED system surely

Yeah starting to see a lot of nice e55s pop up too, especially on auto trader.

I’ve got a good feeling that w211 amgs soon will have their day; good examples are fetching some strong money already.
Might potential availability issues over spares for specialised systems like SBC and Airmatic affect prices and desirability?

Might be a reason why more are coming to market?

My thoughts exactly :thumb:

Members car, was at Benz on the Green. Loved it
Yeah thought so, that’s partly why I asked if it had matching interior.

Seems to have disappeared now when I had a look earlier on Autotrader

That’s the price we pay for living in this country. If you have anything nice expect to be shafted.

Those lucky enough to own cars registered after April 2017 have a bargain annual VED rate once they pass 5 years old, despite the many moans online at the time. Here are a few relevant examples:
  • 2018 Pagani Huayra: £190 per annum for this year.
  • 2006 Mercedes SLK 55 AMG: £735 per annum for this year.
  • 2096 Smart Coup Brabus: £160 per annum for this year
The Pagani is a bargain!

Not for the first five years don't forget... and then there is the four figure first year VED when you tax and register it first time.

The Pagani was less than £600 per annum for years 2 to 5, so still less than the SLK in the same period.

I can’t remember the first year VED value on the Pagani but it wouldn’t have been any more than it would be on a 2018 SLC 55 if they had made one (by then they had switched to smaller capacity 43 engines).

However you cut it, the tax burden is relatively greater on a car costing £41,000 than it is costing £4,100,000 - the Pagani and other very expensive cars are a relative bargain in VED.

The thought of saving that on VED every year would be enough to persuade me to buy the Pagani.
