Low Volume from Smartphone Audio to Aux In

Hey Guys,
Just picked up my 59 Plate A180 CDI Elegance. Really liking being able to get 50mpg!!

Anyway, this issue is not really to do with the car, but my phone (Nexus 5) as I use it as my main audio player. I mainly listen to Podcasts and Spotify via my phone. In my old car this was done via Bluetooth, and it worked quite well. Before that I had an Iphone, and that was done by plugging the USB to 30 pin connector.
Now one of the know "features" of the Nexus is its low volume, from speaker and headphone socket. When I have plugged it in via Aux In, with both volumes at Maximum, the sound is very very low. Is there something that I can do to increase the volume? A couple of thoughts i have had is to possibly put a USB Dac to plug the Nexus into, and then have the DAC going to the Aux In. Or how about another Bluetooth receiver going into the Aux In? I am not too sure if new phones can pair with 2 bluetooth devices at once. This is not something that I have had to do before, so please let me know if these ideas are terrible!!!

I am also looking at a rooted fix for the phone, but I dont think it will double the volume (It needs it!!!)

Thanks in advance

Nick

A simple and cheap way to increase the volume would be to use an inline signal booster, a few quid at Bay of E. I am sure there will be versions that will run on 12V out there rather than battery but I haven't looked.

Thanks Giant. I feel that doing it that way will have some kind of loss in quality. I have just tried 2 Bluetooth devices at once, and it works with my phone. I borrowed my sons portable Bluetooth speakers and had it connected at the same time as the merc bluetooth. Worked a treat!!
Thanks again.

Hey guys. Just an update. It seems that the input via aux seems to be very low. I bought a bluetooth receiver, which was the same volume as using an audio cable. I also trued it with my wife's iPhone. Still it was slightly louder, but still too quiet. I have managed to root my nexus 5 to increase the volume, but honestly it seems to be about 40% quieter than the radio or CD.

I am going to look at mini inline amps that power via USB. Fiio do one for about £20. Hopefully this will make it adequate.

Thanks. Nick

Not really helping, but

a laugh against me!

Had a similar problem with my first bluetooth phone a couple of cars ago, where I couldn't hear the other half of the phone conversation.

I took it to an indie car ICE specialist, and, yes, you've guessed it, once he turned up the volume on the phone itself..................

Haha. Sounds like the kind of thing I would do :-)

But unfortunately everything on mine is up to Max volume........
