Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak

I used it for about five years with no ill effects. It required a top up every now and then and more recently my hoses gave up altogether and I had to bite the bullet.

Frankly I should have gone that way in the begining.

Didn't work on my Vectra (so I bought the Merc :)) - seals had failed so that it was a very rapid drip on full lock though, probably asking too much of it, but it was worth a shot while looking for a new car.

I hear there is a Lucas Swine Flu Protector on its way- stick one bottle up your nose.

Im looking forward to their Pile Protector product...

It has to be worth a try because of there Quote:It is 100% guaranteed or your money back.and it won't damage the system anyway so nothing to lose.

Went in my last disco and made steering quieter from cold but only seemed to work for a few weeks so just ignored it:D.

I ended up using the Wynn Stop Leak treatment instead- mainly due to the squeek getting to me and would need to get the Lucas stuff shipped to me. Squirted in some of the stuff (you dont need much- 5% by volume) and turned the steering wheel on full lock a few times. I then topped up my steering fluid to the correct level with a warm engine, and hey presto all is well again.

The strange thing is the slight judder I had in the steering at low speed has also gone and the steering in general is a lot smoother and lighter.

We'll see how long it lasts...

Why dont you just replace the leaking part?

That's the thing- I couldnt find any leak and had no clue how much fluid was in the car when I purchased it a few months ago. Im now keeping a close eye on the level of the fluid...

I bet the after effects of that woiuld be national news:D

Plus i bet a fair few car dealers use such products.
