Hi All,

After a new chain, I’ve had another issue crop up on my M271.9 W204.

Upon startup, there is a loud humming/groaning? coming from the intake. My initial suspicion is that it’s the supercharger making the noise, but wanted to see if anyone has come across this before or had any suggestions.

I have attached a video of the noise.

Thanks all

Does it get less if you fit the air intake tube again ?

Was the noise there before you did the chain?

If you suspect the SC remove its belt and see if the noise stops.

The car had a slipped timing chain (exhaust camshaft side) and so I hadn’t run it prior to replacement so can’t comment on that unfortunately.

I will remove the belt and report back. I had removed it during the chain replacement, but can’t recall if the noise was still there.

Update: The hum/moaning sound disappears when the drive belt is removed. Seems to confirm that it is the supercharger, and wanted to know opinions on what the best route going forward is. Thanks
