Hi all, I am considering buying a 60k miles S500 with the M273 in it. Late '06 car so fairly early, engine number 095349. Aware of the idler sprocket wear that can affect these units but pretty sure I'm right in saying this engine is outside the affected range - in spite of it being an '56 reg.

Conveniently there was a historic P0014 error code (exhaust cam out of range on one of the banks) on the ECU.....which has made me very concerned...but could just be a duff cam sensor. CEL not on when I saw the car.

Any advice or confirmation re. the sprocket wear issue would be greatly appreciated. Conscious its an engine out job to sort properly and dont need that stress!

Thank you in advance.

Unless you can get the covers removed to check for wear it may be better to move on and look for another?

Probably right....double checked the engine is out of the range for the chocolate sprockets though and the car is priced right. Nothing ventured nothing gained?!
