MB Battery vs Bosch

Does anybody out there know how long the MB branded batteries from maion dealers are warranted for?

I'm checking prices for my w140 and the MB battery from Inchcape is £118 vs £97 for a Bosch S5 with a 5 years warranty from ECP (Including 25% club discount).

Apart from having the nice three pointed star logo and another receipt for the file, is there any reason to get the MB over the Bosch?

Bosch indeed. MB don't make batteries anyway.

If we are into "who makes what" its VARTA that make the batteries for Bosch. And more often than not VARTA make the batteries for MB. Doesn't effect the warranty argument tho.

Different Bosch battery models have different-length warranties.

If you take a battery back to MB under warranty they will test it to see if it's the battery failing or the car's charging system. What do Bosch/Varta do? No quibble replacement?

I don't know about how the manufacturers deal with warranty claims made directly to them, but when I claimed new battery from Halfords under warranty, their car electrician gave the old battery a good going over (while still fitted to the car) including a 'wait-10-minutes-to-see-if-it-loses-charge' test. Although, to be honest, I didn't think it was unreasonable.

Exide is the one to go for, 2/3 year warranty as well.

And they actually make their own batteries.

Friend has had a couple of Bosch batteries, they're not great.
