Hi guys!
Does anyone know the MB hourly rates?
Phoned the MB Stratford today to get a quote for replacing the bushes on front lower control arms for my clk w208 model.
The arms are off the car already and I have a set of bushes bought from them few weeks ago.
They said it takes 3 hours and the price £400 plus VAT
Is that how much the dealers charge for 3 hours labor and I'm sure it won't take 3 hours with right tools.
Thanks

IIRC my dealer charges £150/hr

The actual time taken to do the job is immaterial, costing is on book time. If the workshop manual says 3hrs that's the minimum they charge, even if it only takes 1hr with shortcuts learnt from experience

The Lemforder front lower arms come in at £120 a pair after discount, and my local indy charged me £65 to fit them.

Bushes were around £50 but they take so much longer to fit that it is not worth it, I was quoted 2-3 hours to take the arms off, remove the old bushes, put the new ones in and then put the arms back on, hence buying the arms with new bushes in for £120 the pair and then paying 1 hour labour made far more sense.

Yeah but a house round your way only costs £93! :D

The problem is its clk55 amg model and the arms are a bit expensive so decided to take a shortcuts
I contacted a Wayne gates of Harrow here on the forum and will see what they would charge for it

I bet it's a lot less than the main dealer.

IIRC the lower arms on the 208 & 202 AMG are the same as any other model 208 or 202.
Replacing the bushes doesn't make financial sense due to the cost of the bushes and the labour charges involved, weigh that against the price of complete new Lemforder lower arms then just fitting new lower arms is the way forward.
