MB Star Diagnostics

Can anyone help me with the choice of MB Star diagnostics I should choose. There are 3 or 4 versions listed on various websites. I.e. MB Star C3, C4 .. I even found a website with a C5. Some if them list Xentra or Developer not 100% sure what these are, I remembered reading a thread about rear LED light retrofits where Developer was needed??? Can someone educated me, or even suggest a device, xixal

Developer mode comes with a special licence key. You can have it for any unit, don't pay any extra for that.

C4 refers to a flat box, a cheap and low performing tool. People used to pay more for that crap because Chinese called it C4 while the official product at that time was C3 (Chinese sold iPhone 5 before they realised Apple was going to release a 4S instead of a 5).

Sounds like you are not after the genuine tool (can only be rented from MB). If it is more for private use, then find a high quality C3 tool (don't listen to the seller but find out yourself which tool is HQ).

Finding a HQ tool it a massive task within itself, there as so many people selling C3's it's hard to say which is high quality or not. Is there any tell tale questions I should be asking? I guess the first question would be to ask is whether the C3 from China (aren't they all).

Compact 3 is a genuine product from Mercedes. I would steer clear of any non genuine product myself.
