MB Star Diagnostics...

An expensive buy if not able to use it to it's full potential

I use this:

Autel MaxiDiag EU702

It is no STAR, but it does allow reading and resetting MB-specific fault codes e.g. for the ABS/ESP and SRS/AirBag, on top of the usual engine/transmission ODB/OBDII.

It does not have the software support for all models of MB - though it does for mine (2006 C-Class) so I am happy with it.

Anybody know of any code readers that also cover parktronic??

Not a car, but has anybody purchased/used/know anything about the following:-

MB Star C3 Mercedes-Benz Diagnostic 2011 + Dell D620 Laptop Core Duo WideScreen | eBay

I'm assuming its a "copy" of MB dealer type diagnostics?? Maybe its Indy level?

Was just wondering if its worth investing in for a wanna be home tinkerer.

Any thoughts or experiences welcomed.

Thanks
What is the difference between this sort of system and carsoft, which seems to be quite popular??
Thanks

So is any bespoke system though, it cant be that hard to learn it can it?

It took me about 5 years using it everyday to learn. It gives loads of information. Knowing how to decipher it is the key.

It's easy to navigate but tricky to decipher.

Any insight on this?
Does car soft cover parktronic?
Is it worth having, or is it another "pro" type tool not user friendly for non-engineers?
Thanks

For the amount of times you would actually use it, im sure it would work out alot cheaper to take it to a garage with one and pay the £25 to read your faults.
