MERCEDES BENZ 320CDI ELEGANCE ESTATE 2001

Low power it drives, but it lacks power, it is OK at 70mph.

Also under hard acceleration it produces black smoke.

On recent M.O.T it passed on emissions

Engine Control Unit' was sent to a specialist firm, but it came back with no problems.

The turbo has been reconditioned that made no difference either.

The garage also changed some sensors but again no difference.

Anyone have any ideas as to rectifying this problem.:dk:

Have all the turbo pipes been checked to see if they are split.

Worn/broken inlet manifold flaps?

inlet port motor and probally inlet manifold flaps

bob

Might be worth a live data check while driving to establish if its actually boosting!

Sounds daft, but check the air intake and make sure it's clipped into the grill.

Mines not at the moment and at higher throttle it's closing on itself, cutting off air.

PS not inlet motor - your's is not a V6.

Also symptoms of MAF. Really needs to be checked for fault codes, live data readouts by competent person.

Blocked up DPF? Giving it a boot kicks out black carbon deposits? Does the car get a lot of town driving?

Oh well, it was just a guess. I'm still learning about cars lol ;-)

I assume DPFs came in around 2003/2004 ish, as mine is 2005 and has one, apparently.

BTW DM, you got your lift to PCS gtg sorted out now?

No. Not absolutely sure I need one yet and it's a long time to go before I need to get it sorted.

Just remembered something, years ago on a Toyota, I had a rubber pipe that become delaminated and when you floored it the inside sucked itself shut.

Took some finding as everything looked fine on tickover!

Has it been on a Star and looked at by someone that knows their onions?
