I recently bought an A200 with Audio 20 with 6cd changer and Harman Kardon sound system. However, there is no factory built media interface installed in order to use the MB iphone application. Is it possible to retrofit the interface, if yes, i would be very happy if you can guide me through the requirements.

Thanks

Drive kit plus is not compatible with cars with Becker map pilot pre-wire

(uses the same video / etc interface to the Audio-20)

If your car is a UK car, its probably got Becker pre-wire ....

I thought all new A Class were pre wired for Becker ? If thats true then you are suggesting none of them can take the dealer fit Drive in kit yet many have has it fitted and we are waiting for a price from MB .
I am confused !

If the owner is not using a Becker Map Pilot and doesnt plan too cant you just disconnect the Becker pre-wire and connect the Drive Kit Plus instead? Navigation can be provided by the iphone instead.

Unfortunately, my car is not a UK car and doest not have the Becker pre-wire.

NPUK I am still confused ! It seems odd to me that in order to use the (much advertised by MB) Drive Kit one would need to "unwire " the Becker wiring which appears to be standard factory fitment.
Dealers seem blissfully ignorant about the Drive Kit and its price and many on the A Class forums are reporting that they cant get it to work !

Thanks NPUK. I think the £457 + vat doesnt include the 2 hours fitting so thats another £220 plus vat so thats a total cost of £800 +.
Thats a lot of money for what it does ......

Dension Gateway?
That is not the correct one btw but iirc they do make one for your car.

No they don't.

New A class has NTG4.5. The fibre optic port is only there is you have the Audio-20 with CD changer. The fibre optic port only supports Mercedes DAB/DAB+ tuner, Harmon Kardon amp, TV tuner and Media Interface.

There are not yet aftermarket versions of the above for NTG4.5 (well, there may be TV, and there will be a DAB/DAB+ after market unit) An after market amp interface that pretends to be HK would be nice for connecting a non HK amp though,

I think you could probably disconnect the Map Pilot pre-wire connection (it plugs into 1 video type connector and has about 6 other wires in one of the other connectors for audio in / out)
