Guys,

I changed battery qty 2 = CR2025 for my cars key fob. now it has stopped to open my car doors. I can still get into my car by emergency key and use fob to start the car but its annoying though that I can't use central locking using my fob.

Anyone knows what I have to do..

I have done some reaserch on net and have found out that I have to get Fob synchronised...

Any idea how to do that.

Please Advise

Regards

If your car has the DAS3 system (triangle shaped key and plastic block goes into ignition) then im afraid it sounds like a new key is needed.

If your car has the older DAS2 system (rectangle key and key blade goes into ignition) with red and gren lights on the inerior mirror then yes it could just need a simple re sync.
Insert the key into ignition and turn to position 2, hold the button on key for approx 5 seconds. Remove key fom ignition and it should now work properly.

Its 51 reg. C 180 Classic

You have a Das 3 key.

Are you sure the batteries are good? Test them with a meter, should be 3V.

Are they the right way round?

I bought the batteries brand new. But each from a different shop will that Matter. U know when I changed the batteries....I was able to lock unlock doors for couple of trial but then it stopped again.....and now it does not work at alll.....U know by mistake once I connected negative of the Battery with Negative would that have discharged the Batteries.

I have not got the meter to check is their any other way of checking

When pressing the buttons does the led on the key flash. Another test is to try the infra red comfort closure system by pointing the key at the door handle.
If that fails try pointing it at a digital camers while looking at the display, you will see the led flash.

There is a simple test you can do.
If you have a digital camera (mobile phone one will do) then point the key at that and push the unlock button.
If the batteries are OK and the key fob is working then you should see a purple light in the view finder.

I have done a test of Signal as shown in the link (pic) above and can see white light ...when I press the fob and see it via Mobile phone....as per the details on image this shows that fob is sending the signal.

Does this means that I only need to synchronise the Fob now

Good News everybody : -
I cracked it... I was able to synchronise my Fob to car

Method which worked for me is

1.point the remote at the lock at a distance of about 12 inches. PRESS the remote for 5 seconds.
2. Open the car with Key and put it in ignition at point 2.

Thats how it got synchronised.

Thanks to all who viewed this thread and advised on the way's to deal with this situation

I found it on one of the threads where somebody mentioned Mercedees dealers charge £80 + VAT to sync the fob....I have found a garage who are X Merc trained mechanics and they quoted only £ 20 to synch fob to car....
This garage is in Derby Name is German Autos...

Hope information helps someone who is in trouble.

Once Again.

Thanks for al lyour help

Hi Everyone,
I have recently bought a Mercedes C180 Coupe 2003 and have trouble with the key fob. The key starts the car but does not open the doors. I already changed batteries and synchronised the fob. Now the fob just seems to work sometimes, it only works when is night, when is daylight, it does not work again. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Also, do you have one key, or two keys, and if two, then do both misbehave in the same way?

And not to mention the obvious - have the batteries replaced...?
.

Hi Grober,
I have the same problem my remote just locking the doors when is dark.....
do you have any sugestion?

Sorry you are new to the forum- just click on the underlined sentence I posted ------this will give you more information.

Key fob synchronising

I have had exactly this problem. Point key fob at sensor on rear view mirror, press button twice and then within 30 seconds put key in ignition and turn to position 2. Lock will now be synchronised.
