Mercedees C180 Car service

Hello All,

I bought this car few months ago..This car was serviced before it was handed to me... after service it has only done 3000 miles.... today I started getting the message that service is due in next 29 days......HOw is it possible.... any body knows the reason......after how many miles do we need to get these cars serviced......Please Advise

It's not just done on mileage , its done on driving style , amounts of engine starts , speed driven etc etc etc ...

So it's conceivable that a car that does loads of stop / starts every day , pulling off from junctions , traffic lights etc , but only a few hundred miles a month would need servicing more than a car that has a few each day and thousands of motorway miles a month ....

I liked/understand the way you think ...but just imagine it was not mercedees .... take example of Astra.. which has nothing to say when is service due....and we drive same way as you explained ....will the car start malfunctioning if i dont get it service after 3000 miles...will the engine have bad effect ......

you say the car has done 3000 miles, but how long ago was the sevice done and was it carried out by mercedes benz?

The car will still be just as driveable as it is now, you'll just keep getting a nag message in the cluster display.

It won't lock out and refuse to start, if that's what's worrying you.

When I bought my current car it was serviced by the garage that sold it to me. The oil looked alright etc but they had not reset ASSYST. As such I drove the car for about 18 months until ASSYST told me it needed servicing in -13000 miles; then I took it in for a service. I lived with it beeping for every start for that whole period

It is likely that the OPs car was serviced but ASSYST not reset.

Why on earth didn't you just reset it?

If you'd tried to use Mobilo in that time, they might have refused to work on the car as it would have looked like it had missed a service.

I am after advise for another problem which I am facing with my car...

A sounds comes from Rear ...sound is like " BUNG " I have checked under body and nothing is loose..but I keep hearing this sound.... anybody has experienced sound like this before...My assumption is its coming from Fuel Tank...what do u experts think....

Sound is like as if hollow pipe is hitting wall

It could be the spring that pulls the boot closed when you shut it ...

Or a broken spring ?

It always comes from Driver side rear

Have a feel round the rear spring , especially near the top and bottom , it may be broken ....

It was freezing out side...I have just checked Boots Springs ...they are fine... I placed my finger on the spring and moved Boot up & down the springs are stretching in length that shows they are not broke

It's part of the suspension ....

Mate , take it to a garage and get them to have a look ...
