Mercedes 230E advice 1983

Nice one.

Give a good t cut and the red should re-appear!

it's actually maroon - and yes it desperately needs a T cut.

There's a few bits of bodywork that need dealing with where the tin worm has got hold of it but nothing major and nothing urgent.

Annie is delighted, It's a real time warp car - even the aircon works!

Well done Andy - You got a right bargain there

Do you reckon the mileage is genuine?

Parts are pretty much dirt cheap for them from GSF.

Did the seller MOT it for you, or do you have that pleasure to come?

The condition of interior, service books and MoTs all add up so yes I'm pretty certain it's genuine.

MoT runs until late September but we'll run it through some time next week and get any faults located.

That appears to be a good deal Andy. Better get the polish out..:)

Excellent choice...take a look at this W123 - one deceased owner, garaged from new, original sills and wings - you can sse that they are rust free. Car is undergoing a 5 year restoration...into my 2nd year..good luck!

Glad to see Annie has style :D Who else would let you keep a lathe in your bedroom  :D

Nice to see something good came from this post. Bargain :D

Six years without a service 90-96 and then 01 to now looks a little scary.

Should have knocked some more off the asking price. :bannana:

Looks like it was rich, old lady's shopping chariot from new to 2001.

Not that it means anything all the original docs are in a man's name - we suspected it was someone who lived and worked in central London.

The one thing that would set it off now would be a set of the original Fuchs 'mexican hat' alloys that were more often than not fitted to the 280's.

Returning to the one at the start of this thread , it does look like it has serious rust issues . The front wings are not a problem as they are easy to replace , bit that 'tide mark' along the bottom of the rear wing is showing up a previous repair that would cost more than the car is worth to put right .

It looks like a hard used and poorly cared for example - pity , as it was a late , post facelift model .
