Mercedes Bluetooth Cradle Problem

Just bought brand new CLS along with the Mercedes bluetooth cradle. Have currently tried to get working with Motorola V3 Razr, Samsung E900, Nokia 6280 & PDA - WITH NO LUCK!!

Dealer thinks the bluetooth cradle only supports Nokia models 6230, 6230i, & 8800. Also Siemens S65, SK65, S75 & SL75.

Is this correct?! Is there any way around the problem? Do you think there will be a software update at some point? Seems pretty pointless to have a bluetooth module (that cost me £400) if it only works with a couple phones.

Would appreciate any help and advice on this...

Bluetooth cradle only works with SAP compatible handsets. Thus , ive only heard it working with 6230i and 6233. Which are both nokia handsets.

True

I had a V3 Razr - never worked with it. I brought a Nokia 6230i off contract - works a treat.

Is SAP a new technology? Is this going to be common on most phones in the future or restricted for a particular need/use?

Its new technology , Nokia are just on the ball with it.

There are quite a lot of phones with SAP profile - mostly nokia - a good guide is shown on nokia site where they list phones that work with their own similar bluetooth system (the 616)
http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,68906,00.html
don't confuse it with the US version which doesn't use SAP profile so will work with other phones like the V3

Actually this is the link I meant to post
http://www.europe.nokia.com/accessorieslink?s=616
if you click on the "compatibility" tab it lists lots of phones, and when you hover over each phone it will say whether it uses SIM access or the handsfree profile. Only the SIM access phones will work with the Mercedes system.
A more comprehensive list on the bluetooth qualification site
http://qualweb.bluetooth.org/Template2.cfm?MaxResults=all&LinkQualified=QualifiedProducts&SortCat=QualifiedDate&SortOrder=DESC&search_category=66&search_option=ProductCategory&search_string=mobile%20phones&search_SpecVersion=All&crit=--

What do you mean? That the US version is compatible to more phone handsets that the European one?
Will it work on my European model, or it works like Us kit -> Us car, EU kit -> Eu car???

Maybe it is a silly question...

I have also found out that Nokia 6270 supports SAP, according to the technical info provided by Nokia site

Hi if anyone else has one the vertu ascent also works with the mb bluetooth

SAP, which is a Bluetooth profile, was created by Nokia in 2003. Most of their business phones support it. Siemens were supporting it, but that seems to have gone down the plughole with their merger with BenQ.

On the in-car kit side: Apart from MB, Bentley is very much behind SAP and I read that VW is using it, too. Parrot uses it on some of their kits.

I have researched extensively and there is little indication right now of any other phone manufacturers moving to support it (no press releases, etc). However, with car manufacturers moving that way, maybe Motorola or SE will join in and then we might have a snowball effect. Perhaps.

I think I read that Motorola themselves manufacture the bluetooth kit for MB so they probably have the technology but are not willing to pay up for the license to produce it under their own name.

Bearing in mind that Motorola have disabled bluetooth push from a lot of their mobiles to encourage network use instead (to make more money for the networks I guess) they frankly deserve to go bust IMHO, their phones are mostly junk anyway!
