Mercedes depreciation

Brilliant post, wish I had been this sensible over the years, I reckon I would be mortgage free by now if I hadn't thought I needed the latest and greatest each time I purchased another car (just about every 12 months).

Cheers

Gerry

Thinking back on my life, I have squandered much. Cars, food, booze, cigs and other frivolous excesses. But, do we with live like monks, or do we live?

I know our bosses, the politicians, would have us spend every penny we earned towards health insurance, pensions and ISAs, but we have to live, and enjoy life. What is the point in being born, saving for retirement, then dying, if we don't experience something in between.

I might have been mortgage free by now, but what a boring existence I would have led.

I've seen some odd interpretations of how VAT works over the years and this thread has just added a few more to that number.

I've bought old, ex demo, new and probably lost money by changing too soon in agreements etc but what the hell, i'very been lucky enough to be in a position to do so so why not, it's been one of life's pleasures.

This time round, wanting a GLC choices there are limited, new or ex demo only and the ex demos as selling for more than I've paid for my new one, also better finance rates on new than used so new is a no brainer here. At the end of the day each to their own, the monthly PCP payment suits me and I'm happy handing it back and starting again once the period is up.

We had a static caravan for a few years, you think car depreciation is bad, those things are ridiculous!

James.
