Mercedes in Car T.V. Tuner

I went to look at a 04 SL today, with TV tuner, which i really want.
I was chocked to see it only had "Normal" TV, not any of the Digital channels like Sky Sports News, like BMWs have .
Is this the case on all SLs with TV tuner?
P.S. I know they are not a great signal.

New ones come digital or you can buy a digi tuner for it,, its an easy job to fit.

Thats GREAT news. Is it expensive to retro fit?
If it is, i will swerve this extra and have a MUCH bigger choice of cars to chose from.

I cant be sure on the price, the old one was £600, I believe the digi one is much cheaper but there are alternatives, look in the electric section

Is it possible to put a TV system in a SL that "only" has the Sat Nav?
(I have been looking in older posts, like suggested. Only searched 10 pages at mo, no luck on what i have been looking for yet.)

It's a lot easier to add a digibox to an existing tuner compared to adding television functionality to a car that hasn't got it at all.

In fact, Television has posted his conversion on here a while ago, so you might want to look for that thread.

Yes its simple, on the non wide screen you have an adaptor, on the wide screen ( mid 04-05) then any cheap tuner (£30) will plug in direct.

Has the car got the DVD navigation (with the DVD navigation disk in the boot), or the older one with the navigation CD in the head unit ?
The DVD one you can swop over the tuner (and change some wires around into a new plug housing) - pretty easy job. I dont know if there is a analogue/digital tuner for the older one, but I will find out since I have the older one.

If buying an 04 one, you should try and get the one with DVD, its far better navigation than the older system
