Mercedes key fob - old to new - anyone done it ?

Got my e55 w210 key fob but I also have a couple of the new metal ones - look identical but new ones much nicer.

Anyone done a complete transfer ? - I've tried the key in each slot and perfect fit - just need to know how to get into key so I can get to circuit boards.

From what I've heard, it isn't possible :/ Nor can they be recoded... Still, where there's a will and all that! Let us know if you succeed!

It has been tried, the guts of the old plastic style key won,t fit in the new style key.

It can be done, you have to re solder the chip from the old key onto the new key...

I wouldnt do it though!

Too right - get it wrong and it's gonna cost the wrong side of £200!!!

There's a guy on E-bay who does it, turns your old key into a new style key, i think it's £80. It has been talked about in the elec. section.
