Mercedes me Adapter

Anyone worked out how to make the Adaptor to auto connect with an iPhone. So you don't have to select [Allow] each time you get in the car?

I picked up my adaptor on Monday, installed and set it up after a few teething troubles mentioned in previous posts.

I'm not overly impressed if I'm honest. All I can do on the web portal is purchase the Traffic announcements package for the SatNav. As for the phone app, the Load Retailer section fails every time I try to set it up, and I'm yet to be convinced about the usefulness of the rest of it. Although I have used the Flashlight a couple of times.

I'm just glad I didn't have to pay for the adaptor like some people have.

We should all buy our cars at dartford MB

My dealer in Guildford wanted £300 and when I meantioned some dealer give them away, he said maybe it's £80.

Let's all buy our next Mercedes at dartford MB

My Mercedes dealer, the parts manager at Guildford said the adapter would cost over £300, when I said dartford were fitting them for free, he said maybe it's only £80. Funny guy.

I'll keep my money of i want to look at fuel i can read it on the car

Brooklands offered me the adaptor for £12 if bought while the car is being serviced (but I already have one, bought online from the Mercedes Me shop for £35).

So yes prices do vary.... a lot.

Agreed, the OBDII-based Mercedes Me is pretty useless in terms of actual functionality BUT it's cheap and good fun if you like your car :)

Downloaded the Adapter App and MercedesMe onto my iPhone 6 earlier in the week, registered my car successfullly on MercedesMe.
Today I went to my Merc dealership and they fitted (plugged in) an adapter and took my details. Told me that another guy would set it up, and that it would start working within an hour or so.
By three hours later I had paired the adapter with the iPhone but the process told me that one aspect of the process had not been completed.
That would be Merc's activation guy not having done the activation for me then...
This was confirmed when I emailed the guy who had fitted the adapter, and he told me that he had not seen the 'activator' all day, but that he would email him to say get a move on. Two hours later...zilch.
I have used my car around six or seven times today. Each time my iphone has connected properly to my Comand system, but wants on-screen permission/confirmation each time I start the car before it will connect to the bluetooth adapter.
Is there any remedy to this, to make it connect automatically, when using an iPhone 6?
As my car is a 2011 E-class, I actually wonder whether it will be worth having the adapter, now that I have read some other members rather negative comments on the adapter's limitations....
Any advice would be much appreciated!

I ordered the Mercedes Me Adapter online, it arrived in the post and I then registered my vehicle with the Mercedes Me website, and then called the Mercedes me helpline using the telephone number provided on the leaflet that came with the Mercedes me box.

The helpful chap on the other side of the line activated it for me and said it can take 'up to 24 hours' before it starts working. It started working a few hours later and has been working flawlessly ever since.

In short, I bought my 2013 W204 in February this year, immediately ordered the Mercedes Me Adapter and activated over the phone, and viola no problem - the car has not even been to the dealer yet.

In term of what it does... I have to admit it's mostly a gimmick, but for the cost you simply can't not have it :)

And it is apparently sending information to MB, because I just got an email from '[email protected]' saying that my car told them it will need a service soon, and would I like them to book this for me?

Plus if the car breaks down or goes into limp mode, it will suppsodaly send the stored fault codes to the Mercedes Mobilo technician in advance so that they can prepare the right parts... hopefully I'll never get to test this feature though.

Just a word of warning regarding the Mercedes Me adapter app. I have been running this app on an Android phone and found that it is consuming an excessive amount of battery (around 30% in my case). That's taken from Android Settings > Battery. The app continues to run as a background service on your phone, even when you aren't using the app. The battery consumption is ridiculously high, given what the app is doing. To my mind, it shows that the app has been poorly written. Not sure if the same problem applies to the iPhone version of the app, but I wouldn't be surprised.

The battery usage is so high that I've had to uninstall the app. If you have the app installed, I'd strongly suggest you check the battery usage on your phone.

Regards,
Malcolm

That's not quite right... mine is showing 2% usage.... app version 2.4.51 running on Samsung S8.

I would try installing the app then reinstalling it.

I just had the steering wheel airbag re-call fix applied to my C63 at the local M-B Dealer and whilst the car was in the workshop they installed the Mercedes me Adapter free of charge, without me requesting this item. Having looked at some of the comments I am sceptical about activating the service as it seems to be a gimmick orientated toward getting more business into M-B Authorised shops. I can check fuel and tyres without my iPhone and programming the sat-nav in the car has never been an issue, so in the (brief) honest opinion of experienced Mercedes me users, is it worth it?

It's an absolute gimmick, yes, but I do like it. I actually paid £35 for mine (back in the day).

Said that, the part where it uploads fault codes to Mobilo or other 'SOS'-type features may actually be useful... but I don't know because thankfully I never needed to use them.

PS - I don't think the Mercedes Me Adapter can check tyres or send destinations to the SatNav, it is quite limited in what it can do.

These features come with the Mercedes Me Connect services that use an internal KOM Module in the car (factory fitted) and not with the aftermarket OBDII adapter.

I was offered the Mercedes me adaptor for my ancient cls 55 for free with free fitting by Brooklands. Have not booked it in yet as pretty disillusioned by the posts here and Im pretty sure the obd flap wont close when its plugged in. My OBD reader and Torque app seems to do the same /more with the cars functions but not the parking etc stuff. Anybody fitted one to and older car w211 0r w219?

...Im pretty sure the obd flap wont close when its plugged in...

No it does not... which is why I removed the flap (it comes out easily) and stored it in a safe place.

I also fitted a 3-way OBDII splitter cable, so the Mercedes Me Adapter is permanently attached and hidden inside the dash, while the available port alternates between the OBDII BT Adapters for my ELM/Torque App and Carly for Mercedes App.

but I already have one, bought online from the Mercedes Me shop for £35
Did you have to go in for setup? That’s what’s putting me off

No, I bought mine online from Inchape, then activated it over the phone with the Mercedes Me helpline.

You don't need to go in for setup as such, but I think that the adapter is only free if you take the car to the dealer.

But if you don't mind paying for it, e.g.:

mercedes me adapter | eBay

Then you don't need to take the car to the dealer.

Me too, I can’t be bothered to take it to the dealer. I may pick one up on eBay :) thanks for the info
