Mercedes Tier 1 Warranty Renewal

But the point is Audi tend to cover it anyway as they appreciate someone who has just bought a used car shoudl be looked after, where as Mercedes tend to play by the rules a little too much, a bit too black and white.

What was the thread last month with the guy with the approved E280cdi and the inlet port valve?
That was typical and a disgrace.

Surely a warranty contract means just that, a contract. You expect Mercedes to give in at every turn, but how can Mercedes get the customer to give something above and beyond the contract cost?

What I don't get is that it is an insured warranty, I think they still use Mondial the same as VW group and BMW, and it really does come down to what Mercedes tell Mondial. Often Mercedes seem to be extremely difficult with the customer in this regard, often things fail prematurely but rather than say that they just come out with the same old 'that is not covered' cobblers, it winds the customer up a treat.

Regardless of the contract, a car should still be fit for purpose, and when cars with 30k miles and only just over 3 years old get turned down for warranty work under a tier 1 cover I think it stinks.
Mercedes should be stepping in and saying 'although the warranty doesn't cover that a 3.5 year old car with only 40k miles shouldn't fail in that way, of course we will cover it.'

Even cars with known issues get refused work, and when it is a known issue it should be covered warranty or not. You buy the warranty in the hope they may be a little more understanding if something does go pop, regardless of what it says in the small print.

as warranties go, MB Tier 1 is pretty good i had it for a year, ive also heard good things abt warranty direct.

Kia can provide a 7 year warranty, if they can do it surely Mercedes can, it is supposed to be a prestige brand, not some el cheapo outfit.

Just looking at options for the W212 as it runs out of first three year cover in November; it's got over 100k on it, so Warranty Direct will deduct 50% parts contribution for wear and tear whilst Warranty Wise are offering (on an admittedly select group of components) full replacement cost for two years at just over £1k.

Once in the scheme, I'd be covered regardless of mileage and it's very tempting given what a gearbox, air suspension component or turbo would cost. Inlet manifolds, injectors and rest of engine covered too so I'm thinking of taking this route.

I have renewed my Tier 1 twice on my Cl600. Had various things replaced including a new ABC pump. No problems at all.
