Mercedes Woes..

After having my car finally delivered four days late after the date i had personally agreed. And i also booked this day off work.

I waited in anticipation for my car to grace my drive. It arrived. I was so happy..

The driver having driven 200 miles form the Merc garage down south. Pulls out his phone, rings the number and i give him my card details.

All fine i assume. Simple transaction etc. No it wasn't, it was a p!ss take actually.

The dealerships card for processing payments had broken down. So They left me and the driver in limbo trying to get it repaired. Whilst this was happening 200 miles away at my house. We wasted a good five hours.

Not to mention i had only booked an hour of work. I ended up taking the whole day off again..

Finally i relented and told them i was going to the bank to get a bankers draft. Simple job, took all off 30 mins..

Its not a very good introduction to Mercedes Customer Service. Maybe i should have stuck to the car supermarket down the road.

Strange - a phone call to Visa/Delta from your bank should have sorted it...oh well just think of all the sun shining on your car and the anticipation of driving it increasing..:D

Enjoy your toy....

I'd have waved bye bye to car and driver and made the decision to find another dealer with working equipment. You are THE BUYER, they are THE SELLER. They need you more than you need them.

It's reasonably likely He'd have been waving bye bye to a sizeable deposit at that same time if He took this action.

Yeah, its the crappy PDQ hardware the banks make us use, always failing to 'poll' etc.

MB should have arranged some backup plan by calling the card company though.

Enjoy the car!

But isn't it the seller who has failed to complete the transaction , mud ? Surely the onus to collect payment is on them .

Could we presume that this would have meant them getting off their backsides and going the extra few feet to earn their wad ?

Or instead of waiting for five hours, going to the bank after (say) two hours to complete the transaction. What else could the dealer have done? They couldn't go to a bank 200 miles away and ask the bank for the cash without the customer present.

Good god! It was only 5hrs!! Yes I would have made the phone call after 1hr but to take your suggested action would have meant losing the car, the time taken to find it and however long it takes to find a replacement..

Chill out a bit!
