I live in Leicester and read these posts with much interest as I have recently acquired a 2001 w210 e240. Can anyone advise me of any local specialist garages so that I too can save money by not lining the pockets of the main MB dealer??? This infow ould be ideal for servicing and non-key work, can anyone help me please?

Try Andy Gale in Birmingham, he is well respected.

P.S. I agree with Tan, Andy Gayle has good reputation as a Merc independent, nice chap too, I met him at a GTG in 2002. The only other Merc indy that I would recommend is George Fraser but being based in NW London, he's too far away from you.

You could try "Silver Star" garage in Rothley. One of their Techs is ex MB and they advertise as MB specialists.
