If you are only expecting to do 5k-6k miles per year you ought not to be targeting a diesel powered car. Mic

I only do about 3000 miles a year and have a diesel car as I prefer the 350 V6 CDI

Well I went to see the 61 plate and all was above board and nice genuine guy selling it. The car did not blow me away inside was in good order boot and engine bay clean apart from Pine needles in the gulleys. All from tree under which it is parked. As for the paint it looked like a 5 year old had was it. He took it to local polish and it was a terrible job. Anyway paint it self had lots of small scratches and swirls all over especially on doors and behind door handles ring scratches abundant I am sure with a quality detail they could all be eradicated. The test drive was ok but he drove and engine was warm to start as he had just returned from car wash. He did say he would do a cold start if I purchased and under no obligation to complete if not happy. Went through gears ok but he did have habit of putting in neutral when ever we were at a stop. He said it was habit. Anyway gonna have a think over weekend and if I decide yes make offer. My only gripe is I get the impression cars to the owner is a thing to get to A 2 B whether taking kids to school rubbish to the tip and if the kids scratched it he would just shrug his shoulders, I'm not saying its been abused just not cared for in the way I care for my cars.

There both blue albeit different shades, I will go to see the 61 plate tomz and make decision then down on what it looks and drives like.

What I do know is its owner lives in a very nice area, not that means heck of a lot but better than some area's near me that I would not buy a pack of matches from let alone a car.

Sorry I thought it was black anyway it's a better blue than the 59 plate IMO , a Mercedes specialist said to me low miles on a car is not always a good thing as cars need to be driven and don't like to be sat about doing nothing

I don't think its been sat about as the guy has just retired and no longer needs a big car just for that reason of it not doing any miles, its just a private owner who has used it every day commuting to work which I did ask is 20 miles and just a 7k a year car. But looked after as its his own not just a company perk. I just wish it was black as my Mrs wants a black or white one DOH

Black and you can use it for funerals. White for weddings

Not familiar with Jags, but as a general rule, everything else being equal I would to go with the majority here and would take a 61 car with 88k miles over a 09 car with 37k.
