Hello,

Just after everyone’s opinion on mileage. I’m looking to buy a 2019 e63s and found a car I like with everything I’m after on it but the only thing that is putting me off is it’s on 37500.

What’s people thoughts on that mileage for the cars year?

What is your issue with the mileage?

Under 10k a year?....that about average to many ( I do about 14k....but not all in the same car!)....its certainly not a high mileage car. As long as its priced cheaper than say a 20k car I cant see the issue.

I agree, the mileage is indeed a major concern. Personally, I wouldn't buy a car with such low mileage - sitting on the drive isn't doing the engine any favours...

OK, it was tongue-in-cheek... as others said, nothing wrong with the mileage. Go by condition :thumb:

As others have already said, the absolute number of miles isn't of any concern, just buy on condition and price.

I'll now caveat that statement by pointing out that I'd take a good look at the brake discs, because if they haven't already been changed at that mileage they're likely getting close to needing to be changed. If they look like they're nearing the end of their life, that's a good bargaining point.

The obvious consideration is do you intend to do high miles in which case this car will be considered high mileage when you come to sell it and that will affect it's value accordingly. If you only intend to do low miles then the 37.5K is not an issue and you will be reducing it's depreciation by lowering it's average annual miles. It can make financial sense for a low mileage user to buy a higher mileage car for this reason.

I'm in the same position, just started the search for an E63S - that mileage is neither here nor there. The ones i'm looking at have similar numbers on and i'm not worried in the slightest, but as others have said - do your research, service history (particularly with diffs and gearboxes) is critical on these cars and sometimes, getting a straight answer from Mercedes is not straightforward (as I discovered when I bought my existing C63S!).

Nothing major, more curious on people’s opinion whether for a performance type car that was too high mileage for year.

Obviously, for say a diesel that’s nothing but for a v8 4.0 is it different and would something lesser in mileage be a better option.

That is a fair point that I hadn’t through of. I never do more that around 6-7k miles per year and normally keep cars between 18-24 months

How many owners, has it been chipped?
Is it from a main dealer?
Full service history?

kc
No, not interested in mapped/chipped cars
Not main dealer no but a dealer not private

Yes full MB and all history checks look good and not issues I can see

Don’t say that buddy , my E class is on 130k ,

The mileage is okay. Are you looking for one with considerably fewer miles?
If cars are not used regularly and stored as “Garage Princess’s” it can lead to other issues…
Didn’t really have a number in mind but was look originally at cars around the 20-25k but nothing took my fancy

IMHO the mileage is okay, not super low but not excessively high.

What’s the condition like - drivers seat, kerb marks on the wheels? If they’ve been refurbished - is the job as good as factory?

Any signs of paintwork - dings or marks down the sides?

As said what’s the condition of the discs? They’ll either be almost new or nearly worn out with those miles. Likewise the tyres - can give clues about previous ownership.

Has it had its fourth service yet?

Price wise how does it compare to a MB approved car. It needs to be cheaper IMHO - you will get a two year warranty on approved used AMG cars.

Expect to look at several examples in the flesh and see how they compare, there’s often a quite a difference in condition when you view them.

If you prefer low mileage cars wait for one to come along. They are out there :)

As a benchmark, what kind of annual mileage do you intend to put on it?
