Mini Ice Age on the Way?

All those predictions ................... and they can't even get the weather right from day to day!!!

Probably best to prepare myself though!

Anyone know if winter tyres are a worth while investment????:p:p:D:D:bannana:

And 'they' claim the planet is warming up because of the cars

Interesting article, I did read somewhere recently that the sun is scheduled to finish its latest increased cycle of activity in 2013 which is also roughly the time that the Aztec calendar suggests the world comes to an end.

With a crop dependent on reasonable warmth (to say the least) growing outside my front door I would not be too happy if things go south.

Doubt we can change anything be that hotter or colder.

Sometimes it pays to examine the background of such articles. This one originates from one
Habibullo Abdussamatov, an astrophysicist and head of space research at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia a well known climate change skeptic. Notice he's not a climatologist but an astronomer. His chief research interest seems to be in changes in SOLAR radiation and how it effects the climate in Russia and would appear to form the main basis of requests for government funding of new telescopes and astronomical equipment . Google Translate
A sort of climbing on a negative bandwagon then? Wonder if he gets any funding from that well known benevolent organisation GAZPROM ? :dk: Here's a profile of the chairman of their board of directors who just happens to be First Deputy Prime Minister the Russian Federation. Viktor Zubkov

I feel the views of this well known Irish upper atmosphere expert are worthy of consideration. :D

^^ My thoughts exactly, see post 3!!:bannana: :D

Ooops, sorry for the double post, was going to change it but the edit button has gone!!:o
Never mind, gets my post count up!!!:D

Personally, I think the earth's orbit has changed slightly and this is why our weather is so random!!!:)

Fortunately world leaders have agreed to do very little, though no doubt in the UK we will go on crucifying the motorist, and putting up the cost of keeping warm by subsidising uneconomic methods of generating electricity.

Yes. But he makes a very good point. Weather forecasting is in its infancy and not yet reliable enough for anyone to base firm policy on.

As an aside, policy is not always based on firm evidence. Economics itself is not 100% reliable. Does anyone care to bet on what level the FTSE 100 end on Wednesday, or how many people will be unemployed? The Met Office predict 2 Celsius around Birmingham.

LOL, that quote is epic :D Makes total sense.

Apparently, the world is ending on 21st December 2012, so we won't live up to "The Little Ice Age" in 2014 anyway...

Policy isn't being based on weather it is on climate or rather the change to the climate. Climate and weather are two different things.
