Mini Ice Age on the Way?

Weather is the study of temperature, precipitation, wind, fog, cloud cover etc for a short period of time (minutes to months). Climate is the study of long term trends, usually 30 years or more.

:eek::D

The problem is that once you’ve sat up and paid attention enough to examine them a bit more closely, you find that the means by which the figures were arrived at isn’t very compelling… The report contains so many extrapolations derived from guesswork based on estimates inferred from unsuitable data.

scary sh1t, winter for three years...

When travelling in extreme weather conditions the government has advised everyone to take with them:

a bottle of water
some energy bars
a shovel
a hazard light
a blanket

I looked a right tw*t on the bus this morning

So how if they cannot get the weather right, that they tell is the climate is changing.

All that is different is the time scale, and if one cannot be right in the short term, then its not so likely they can be right in the long term.

Therefore the whole lot of this is rubbish and should quite frankly be ignored and treated with disdain, as its merely an excuse to tax us and a socialist attack on western culture and values.

Steve

Long term trends are easier to forecast than short term results.

I thought you were a banker ??????

Global Cooling and the New World Order – Telegraph Blogs

Well tinfoil hats on and best guess is this: many projections, even that of the most ardent and corrupt Global Warming bandwagonistas (see Carbon Trading) show a 30 year dip in temperatures even if that is in the context of an overall upward trend.

Solar cycles, global dimming, take your pick: truth is nobody really knows but when year after year winters get worse the story becomes harder and harder to sell.

And the tax man still cometh like and presents himself like a fart in a spaceship.

Two certainties for this life.

1. Tax.
2. Death.

Sorry folks, the rest of the carbon this and global that does not wash.

Maybe we are going back to winters of years ago when the weather was cold and snowy, when roads & pathways were keep more clear by local authoritys

Maybe, but they didn't have to deal with "the wrong kind of snow"

LOL, that quote is epic :D Makes total sense.

Apparently, the world is ending on 21st December 2012, so we won't live up to "The Little Ice Age" in 2014 anyway...

....and I thought it was ending The Day After Tomorrow:D:D

No that isn't true. Weather is localised patterns of behaviour. Climate can be defined in both regional and global terms. Regardless of the fact that the last 3 winters have had more severe weather (in my area anyway) than for a long time the global temperature for 2010 is set to be the highest on record.

Carbon Dioxide amongst other things is known to create a greenhouse effect and increase global temperatures. Levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today are 30 per cent higher than they were 150 years ago and we are creating more of it as a planet every year which has an exponential effect on levels in the atmosphere

I'm surprise no one has picked up on my last post.

The question being: Are economic models better or worse than climate models?

That could fill a book.
Economic forecasts have been front page news for years and the public and politicians have learnt to be sceptical of them and to accept their frailty.
Few if any major economists are attempting to forecast 100 years hence. I don't see similar scepticism in either the public or politicians about climate forecasting though thank goodness it does appear to be growing recently. The public seem to be ahead of the politicians on this one.

the death of the gulf stream explained in the video ^ seems a valid point.

weird how a man made disaster may offset another (possible)man made effect. almost seems like its not man made...(supreme being playing with us?)

cards on table time,

I firmly believe that the hype is an excuse to tax us, if we in the uk (maybe even all Europe?)stopped making any co2, the amount from places like the usa and more importantly china will still exceed the so called safe limits.

I also believe that all the religious stories are variations on ancient attempts from Egypt to explain the suns path throughout a year(ie not a supreme being playing with us lol)

On what basis? A couple of weeks of bad weather. This just looks like some guy making it up as he goes along to me. Rest assured if the gulf stream does stop we'll know about it soon enough and not from some muppet with an agenda but from the scientists monitoring it who will be able to provide some actual evidence rather than mere opinion.

So far in my life, eminent experts have told me, one way and another, that I'll be lucky to be alive in 5 years due to

Nuclear war.
Germ warfare.
Ice Age.
Running out of oil and gas.
Ozone layer.
Acid rain.
GM crops.
Global warming.
Mad cows.
Swine flu.
Bird flu.
Various economic crisis.

Those I can remember, I sure I've survived more:)

One thing is certain, though, we will become extinct one day - its all in the timing:)
