Misfire

Hi. New to the forum. This is my first thread.
I've got a 2000 W C180 tourer. Got in the car this morning. Started fine as it always does. Selected reverse and it developed a misfire (felt like it was only firing on 2). Took it down the road and it continued. Wouldn't go above 15mph. I pulled over after about 2-3 minutes of driving, turned the car off and started it again. It ran fine and has done ever since.
Any ideas? My initial thought was coil pack.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Could be coil pack/s could be MAF(most likely) sure way to find out is get codes
read on star.many post's on here,do a search on both, may help you to draw your own conclusions.

While misfire is almost certainly a coil pack issue as has been said- they tend not to go away again like that----It might have been a moisture issue on the high tension circuitry somewhere which has dissipated now. The other possibility would be the engine/gearbox going into limp home mode due to a gearbox fault. Not sure if the gearbox and engine ECU's communicate in this age of model or not? If the problem resurfaces I would inspect the HT ignition components for signs of insulation breakdown the coils -leads - extenders Make sure they are clean and making good contact and free from moisture-- you might also want to check/renew the spark plugs while you are at it. there is an outside chance that you have a cylinder head gasket problem--- a little water accumulates in the offending cylinder overnight and causes misfiring first thing---- usually you will see this on inspecting the spark plugs--- the plug on the faulty cylinder will look " OILED" but is in fact wet and dirty. Get the gearbox fluid level checked also.

as he says, but make it short:plug it on star diag

After a quick chat with a fellow owner, who had a similar issue. I changed the MAF sensor and it now runs better than ever.
