Check around the brake pedal as it may have fell or broken off. The switch is normally ON with the pedal holding it OFF in normal driving. This means if it falls off it is ON all the time. If that makes sense?
thanks, anything makes sense as far as mb is concerned! i will have a look in the morn. funny thing man in a van pulls up alongside me and says your brake lights are stuck on,he drives of and i follow and he aint got any brake lights!just jealous i guess.

there is a recall from mb for cruise control.
im sure they replace the break light switch in this recall. might be worth seeing if that cures the problem.

thanks, took the switch off to get part no. put back and working? result! drove to work this morn and some berk drove into me at lights! bust driver mirror off .rang insurance no probs they will pick car up on lowloader gone for 7 days! new range rover as courtesy car. please can i just have mirror i ask, no they say we dont work like that and please make sure that locking wheel nuts are in car!we will check for damage elsewere, wonder why insurance is so high.
