Car
merc 270ml
Bought my first 270ML early last week a 2001 auto great in all ways BUT last Thursday I drove approx 35 miles and stopped at a fuel station to fill up. When I tried to start the car the key turns one click all the warning lights come on but when I turn it further nothing happens engine does not turn over lights do not dim nothing. after 20 minutes of trying everything lights on, lights off, lock car, unlock the car suddenly it turned over and immediately started. I decided to risk it and continued my journey traveling 150 quiet uneventful miles. When I reached my journeys end I switched off and it would not restart same symptoms as before. Next morning started perfectly, next day started and drove 150 miles home no problem but on switching off again nothing, Since then I have only done short journeys and no problem but I am frightened to use it for longer journeys. Is this a known fault anyone got any ideas where I should start looking? Thanks

The classic symptom of a hot car not starting is failing CPS (crank position sensor).
But as you say the starter failed to turn then I'd be looking at a possible ignition switch problem (EIS)
You really need to get the car to someone with STAR diagnosis and have the fault codes looked at. Do you have a Mercedes Indy nearby? The dealer is a bit expensive for STAR diagnosis.

Oh, welcome to the forum:thumb:
