Hi Guys,

Been a few weeks now that we have had the car. (2002 ML500 W163) I love it and would buy another one tomorrow.
So was driving to day dropped my wife off and parked the car went for coffee. Came back could not start the car!!!!! Thought flip maybe key has lost its programming. Jump out the car lock it unlock and the flipping thing starts, only this time with the check engine light on.
Now i'm thinking all the way home what this could be checking the gauges and all is fine. As i get home and park the car and leave it running while i off load some stuff it just dies. Turned itself off. So try start it again and it wont start. So i open the bonnet and thinking what could this be only to open the oil filler cap and Boom i see a lovely milkshake in the filler cap.

Don't know where to start looking for possible issues but either it has a blown head gasket or the oil cooler is leaking?
Has anyone else had an issue on here like this before. I have contacted the dealer i bought the car from and they will come back to me as the car came with a warranty cover for the engine and gearbox and some other stuff.

Any help or reference would be much appreciated on this.

Steve

Some Mayo can be OK. Usually if you are doing short journeys with cold starts. Need to get it plugged into STAR to see what is tripping the EML.

As above really, very common on your engine to see Mayo in the cap, it's oil and condensation mixing that's all.

Agree. It's more likely to be a crankshaft position sensor fault in my experience. If you have the mil on a fault code should be stored

Thanks Guys, I pulled the oil filter out and all is fine I will dump the oil tomorrow to check it as well.
Thanks for the advice and will get it put onto Star as well. Any good guys here in Glasgow?

Steve
