Cheers!
Hi All,
Thanks again for all the words of wisdom. Updates .....
o Got the headlamp washers going. I tried to pop an extra 'O' ring into the body of the washer where the metal cylinder sits, but no go. Eventually got them working without leaking by judicious use of plumbers tape around the top of the cylinder, and gently (Yeah! Right!) tapping them into place to ensure a seal between the metal cylinder and the plastic housing. Had the bumper off and on about 5 times ... now an expert in removing and replacing ML 270 AMG bumers covers. : ))
o Replaced the ATF fluid. It was BLACK and smelt bad. Real bad! The pan tray was mercifully clean and no swarf. Cleaned up the gunky remains of the burnt fluid, refit the pan and replaced with fresh red stuff. Gear changes now silky smooth.
o Just ran the wife to pilates. Limp home mode still active, but we've only been running back and forth to the village. Decided to take the scenic route home and get her right up to temp. Just before taking the last turn into our road i pulled over on a whim and stopped and restarted the car. Suddenly full power back!! Pulled like a train the last half mile. Will let her cool down and see if limp home mode is re-engaged when I go to pick the Mrs up.
o Central locking from the fobs still not working. If I perform the resync operation then the fob will work for "one time only" action (lock or unlock). After this it's dead again. The fobs are obviously working ok, but I suspect the AAM is the culprit. Removed the fuse box and reseated all the connectors. No joy, I suspect a visit to the garage is in order for this one. Can live without it for a while, but it *really* annoys that this doesn't work.
Cheers,
Ripface.
