Hi guys. I have an ML270 which was going into limp mode and had a 3-4 gear problem, over reved 500rpm before it got the gear. A reconditioned box later, including finally a MB valve box all seemed well. Has been running well for 2 weeks then on Saturday when't into limp again ie wouldn't kick down and didn't want to go over 2000rpm. Stopped and restarted and it was fine again?? Have had a new Mass Flow. Any ideas as this is beginning to get to me!*!

Not sure on your engine but on mine it is to the right of the engine, it is part of the air intake manifold beside fuel filter, it will have a thin vacuum pipe pushed into it and it is held on by 3 small screws, bit fiddly but a DIY job. This is one possible reason of many but a common problem

Iv got the same issue on my ML270 04 plate! Iv not found the solution yet either. The car has had a full service and all fluids changed, also did the MAF sensor (Which helped MPG wise anyways but not the limp mode problem).

I would definately be interested if you find a solution as its been doing my head in and the Mrs is about to start using the car to commute to work in a months time.

Car runs fine usually. Some times i have the issue where there is no power, no kick down, switch the car off then on again and its like there was no problem. Sometimes the issue occurs when starting up from cold, iv also had it on the M25 coming from A1, having to cruise at 50 due to speed restrictions, as soon as i cleared it i put my foot down but nothing, had to find a safe spot to turn the car off and on again.

Its getting annoying but dont really want the wife to have problems while she is using the car.
