I have just purchased a ML270 cdi 04 plate and hoping to put the trip computor in the light section.

I am hoping that someone may have done this mod and what is involved as the main problem I see is that the alarm hook button is where the mode button would be on the Trip.

Can anyone help re advice and if different wiring is required etc.

Regards

Mark

There are different trip computers.

Have a look on euromerc, they have a few.

I think 'wobbly' on the forum fitted one to his previous W163.

Have spoken with Nick who has all the parts , but it is where the hook alarm button get moved to.

Plus if new wiring required,

Thank you for advice

Regards

Mark.

Job's to date, all new fuel lines and thermostat and now 6mpg better, had to do the same on C class but ML now the good lady car.

Any Info would be appreciated.

^ Mine was a ML350 (3.7 v6 petrol) the 270cdi should be a fair bit better.

Here was mine...an inspiration model, great car enjoyed it.

What made you change the fuel lines?

The seal had gone and was weaping where it goes into the fuel pump. could smell deisel and when turned on started slower than it should , so replaced all the lines to be on the safe side and new clip underneath so not to rub on the V belt. all in all approx £70. quite common as the plastic does go brittle after a while. Plus thermostat was between 50-70 which I had on the C class and now 80-85 and mpg improved straight away.

Did you fit the fuel lines yourself?

My thermostat has been changed and the MPG increased.

Where is the fuel pump, so I can check please?

If you open the bonnet and follow the two fuel pressure lines you will see where they go to the left of the engine behind the V belt , you may need a torch to see the two lines and is very fiddly and need to be patient, a frustrating job to do and skinned knuckles.

You just have to bleed the system and make sure no bubbles in the pipes, I am no expert and took me just under two hours. A third pair of hands would be helpful to hold a torch :-)
