Hi all

I have an Ml270CDI, 2002 UK facelift model with a 5 speed tiptronic box.

How can I tell if mine has a separate oil cooler fitted, or was it fitted as standard on my model. Just trying to rule out the glycol in ATF scenario with my misbehaving gearbox. There appears to be a little radiator in front of the main one but I wasn't sure if this was A/C or oil cooler.

Many thanks!

Simon

hi all appreciate this is a old post but on my 2003 ml270cdi auto the slim radiator right at the front contains water on mine and not atf to my surprise I was expecting atf fluid to come out of it ?
and the pipes from that front rad lead to the fuel device mounted on top of the manifold....fuel passes through and also water passes through

I have 2 pipes that come from the gearbox and look as if they go up side of engine to a (oil cooler) which is bolted to the oil filter housing,(is this not the transmission cooler) ??

getting a bit mixed up if someone could clear up what does what please.
mine is a 2003 so it could well be a manufacture update.

any ideas guys please?

The cooler on the engine is for engine oil. The cooler on the rad is for ATF
