c220cdi coupe evo/panoramic
hi all
petrol prices finally got the better of me and my ml 500 52reg has to go lovely thing to drive but 17mpg not enough as just gone down to a one car family to and fro dropping kids of works out quite expensive...........
been trying to sell my car for last month and half no luck so now trading in with mercedes so getting a bit ripped off . changing to a c220 coupe cdi evo pan comand full leather electric heated seats its only on a 03 but thats all i can afford tried to get the top spec as i can to cheer me up from losing ml ,im also hoping mpg and less visits will give me a smile as well .i know i got a pre face lift model on the coupe but from reading on here a lot of you still say there ok so might be on here bit more often if help need .sooooo much imformation and help available .
i hope i have done the right thing and not to disapointed just thought i would give an update of what im getting next week

Big jump, make sure you don't try and overtake too much.
Hope you enjoy the C class coupe :)

Hello

You could have gone for Gas in the ML ? My dad has a 2003 E320Cdi Estate and regularly 44mpg but was suprised when he had a 220cdi coupe (a basic one but auto) he only managed 35mph... Still double your ML.

However Gas in the ML would equal 35mpg and 50p Litre :) :) best of all worlds.

Make sure that roof is quiet. They tend to rattle.....alot

Doesn't rattle - might squeak a bit, but thats easily corrected with silicone spray where the 2 panels meet. Just make sure it opens and shuts at a reasonable pace and smoothly.

i did look at gas conversion but £2000 on a car thats losing its appeal because its a 4x4,goverment warnings seems to scare people from buying one and to be honest i dont think i would buy a car that had been converted (you hear so many horror story's) plus we only have two garages that do the gas within 13miles radius i know thats not a problem but could be a pain ,so i think that others must think the same so even less of a market for one ... the only reason we went for the coupe is we can still fit the dog in the back if we take parcel shelf out .we did look at the golf tdi and audi a3 but went for the merc in stead i love them and have been very happy with the ml since day one of getting it ...i know the power wont be there but 40 is getting close no need for speed anymore (well a little bit would be nice) god im regretting doing this already and havent even got it yet come on c coupe owners tell me its a great car :)

I have a training disc with the repair proceedure.

The very last resort involves removing the entire roof. Not a small job which I have had the pleaseure of doing twice now!

Apologies - i bow to your experience.:o

I wasn't aware these roofs rattle rather than squeak. What is the cause of the rattle then, once the roof is off the car?

I agree £2K for the conversion to Gas is a lot but depends on your millage. Yes the ML is losing value quickly but so is the C220 as soon as you drive it off the forecourt.

Its your call obviously and maybe too late but hope you don't regret it as you don't sound to convinced.

its true i will lose money as soon as i drive it of the forcourt ,i paid nearly £16000 for the ml500 year and half ago and as i say its been up for sale for the last 6 weeks for under £11000 with no luck of selling it people just dont want them. its not a rough car either only done 43000 miles fmbsh with all gadets it just dont make sence.and at that rate i will be giving it away in another year

Poor installation, lack of lubricant poorly made etc.

No need to bow......:D

little update
was meant to be getting the c220 coupe thursday but was told it wasnt ready so they delivered a temp car what was the c220 coupe 55 plate the face lift model no pan roof no heated or electric seats no comand but was very happy with the drive smooth i hope mine is a similar drive when it arrives i took it for a 300 miles round trip to newforest this weekend the miles flew by and i didn't have to stop at a garage (would need to in the ml)
fingers crossed its the same when its delivered this thursday

I know the feeling. Having had a 4.4i X5 which was no stranger to the pump, I did a 300 mile country road blast down thru Argyll etc. Half a tank gone, 40 litres of fuel....£50 worth tops. The X5 would have seen away virtually a tank @ the speeds I was doing (93 litres @ £100) and would have had to stop for fuel just in case.

Quite a nice thought really....
