ML55 AMG LPG Conversion

You can buy a basic A150 3dr for £99 per month over 3 years, hand it back at the end (offer until end of the month) - A better spec one is available at £199, and even my reasonably speced A180 CD is considerably under £300

Where is this from, Richard? I can't find a deal as good as this!

Its one the dealers are meant to know about, MB sent out a pack of offers to various people (it had a number of A class options, and some very very large discounts on SL and CL). My dealer knew about the "base" A class offer when I asked him about it. (Greenoaks, Bracknell) - theres also a £179 offer for a A150 Classic SE 3 dr at

http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/con...cars/home/solutions/Offers/A-Class-01-06.html

Its one of those specials where MB finanace set a great residual for that particular model, so the monthly payments are low. Cars have to be delivered by 31/3 (i.e now already built), the APR is around 3.4% on the finance deal - its been running for a couple of months

The offer was sent to my business partner, i'll try and get the paperwork from him later today if that helps - There is also a price rise on 1/4, I think across the range -

Cheers

I recently drove a X5 -4.6L sport model-with LPG. It was great. The owner had bought the X5 cheap -17k miles, 14 months old, less than £25k ( for a vehicle which cost nearly £60k new).

Did he pay 25k with the LPG conversion already done ? If so, thats what LPG conversions do to residuals on a mainstream model :-(

That an awfully large amount of Fuel that would have to be saved to cover that much loss.

Or maybee X5 or 4x4 residuals are just knackered !! I know that my ML500 is going to fetch very little compared to the ~50K it cost new when i sell it at 5 years old.

I think the long and short of it is, that theres a small market for AMG vehicles, and a small market for LPG vehicles, so the combined market is tiny - this would only result in really bad residuals.
There is a logic to that but I'm not convinced. One could equally argue that by reducing the running costs of an AMG you actually widen the market since most people (me included) would be put off at the thought of 17mpg. As the vehicle ages and depreciates the financial risk of converting reduces and I therefore think a converted car becomes a better buy.

In my experience (sorry to bang on about Range Rovers) I sold my Range Rover quicker and for a higher price than a non LPG RRover. But Rover V8 conversions are a known quantity - the only issue with an AMG conversion is whether it's been done before and whether there is anything in the AMG tuning of an engine that would be adversley affected by being run on a slightly different fuel.

Wait until Gordon brown has done his evil stuff this afternoon. May find the goalposts have moved again on the LPG/LMG versus conventional fuels.

ML320 + LPG = 32mpg.
Space saver tyre in the boot, Massive boot = minimal space lost.
The engine temperature never goes over 82, what does your 320 run at ?

The conversion works for me as I can do more mile for less money in the ML verses a 2.0 Focus.

Deperciation... I didn't buy an ML to save money!

Conclusion,
LPG works for me, I have saved the install costs in under a year and can remove the system before selling if I wish.

Will I use LPG again? Yes, if the cost can be justified by the mileage that I do.
