More info about P31…must have option or not?

Ok, my mistake.

I was told LSD was standard on 507 though! Why would it be an option on a 'special edition' car?

Extra exclusivity? I don't see it? A C63 AMG will always be some sort of exclusive car; with or without the P31 option… They are both great machines.

Resale value is of zero concern to me… I will buy this car for me and not for the next owner. I tend to keep every car at least 5 years if I like the car and longer if I love them. So with or without P31 the value between the two will likely be almost the same in 5 years time and resale value will depend more on the mileage then the P31 option.

Personally; the better brake discs (rotors) is something that might appeal me…. I like good brakes; but if the standard ones have the same braking performance on the street then the P31 brakes then it's also ok for my street use. I think the red braking calipers look out of place and are to striking for this type of car. The grey calipers look way better and more understated. I also don't like the interior with alcantara inserts… I want full leather ;)

Still, did not found a definitive answer if the P31 pack also includes internal changes to the C63 engine or if it's only a remap?

I did found a German C63 2012 brochure that stated that the AMG Performance suspension was not part of the P30 Performance package and was a separate option…. There is no mention of the P31 option…? I was under the impression that P30 was the performance option in the pre-FL model (until 2011) and that P31 was the performance package on the FL model (from 2012).

Perhaps I didn't word it the best but I meant that it's a rare example of a rare car. I didn't buy my car for the next owner either, I merely stated that the extra money laid at purchase would probably be recouped when sold as the still seem to go for a few thousand more.

I doubt the average man on the street will notice the difference between the brakes, except when it comes to replacing them! If you don't like the red calipers and the alcantara steering wheel then it seems a fairly straight forward decision.

Don, do you have any ideas about my post on the previous page regarding a PPP having P30 in the bill of sale?

Some interesting facts on this thread, as the owner of a performance pack equipped pre-facelift 2008 SL 63 it states on the build sheet that it has a 525 BHP engine.
Was this extra output ever available for the C63 and it raises the question does anyone know how they did it.

The 520 was a limited run model that ran on pre facelift. Very few numbers. Ah, DR520 if I remember correctly. Bought up by F1 drivers and friends of MB I think.

Who knows....

In the AMG instrument cluster, red applications serve to visually differentiate this variant from the other C 63 AMG models. The trim in high-gloss black piano lacquer look and the "Edition 507" badge on the trim on the front passenger side round off the high-quality, exclusive interior.

Optional extras available from the AMG Performance Studio include:

•AMG door sill panels, illuminated in white featuring LED technology
•AMG floor mats
•AMG rear axle locking differential

•AMG 5-spoke light-alloy wheels, painted in titanium grey and with a high-sheen finish, with tyres in sizes 235/40 R 18 (front) and 255/35 R 18 (rear)

•AMG Performance suspension
•AMG Performance Media
•AMG carbon-fibre/high gloss black piano lacquer-look trim
•extended appointments in designo black leather comprising: upper part of dashboard, beltlines in the doors finished in designo black leather
•vehicle collection from the AMG Customer Center in Affalterbach (for Germany)

Not sure how difficult it is to understand really. Here goes, again.

Performance Pack (2008 to 2009/10):

No power upgrade (keeps P30 engine)
Performance Suspension an option
Suede steering wheel grips
Carbon boot lip
Red callipers
2 peice rotors
LSD as standard

Performance Package Plus (pre and post facelift) (2010 to 2013):

487bhp P31 upgrade Inc uprated internals.
Grey intake manifold
Red callipers
Single piece composite ali/steel rotors
Carbon boot lip
Suede wheel grips
Couple of trim options
LSD not standard. Now cost option.
Performance Suspension an option.

507 edition (2013>)

As above P31 but with 507bhp
LSD
Different wheels
Body decals
507 badges

Point to note is packages may differ in different countries.

Initially it is not so difficult to understand . After reading this forum I was under the impression that the PP options was somewhat as you described....

But I got confused after reading the Official German order form for the 2012 C63 Estate and this looks as the most correct source of info. There is no mention of Performance Package Plus for the 2012 C63 AMG FL. There is only the Performance Package and it's option number is P30 and not P31...

The options included in the P30 Performance package are indeed the same as the P31 you are describing. Could it be that they named this option Performance Package P30 in Germany and they named the same Performance Package Plus P31 in the UK?
That is the only explaination I can think of, but that would be really strange and create confusion?

Indeed I think the red calipers attract attention to the car that is not needed. But I like to brake hard and late; so the option of better brakes is something that attracts me ;)
Still; if I have a C63 AMG without the performance package and without the red calipers I could always fit the more expensive 2-piece composite brake discs from the performance package when my standard discs are worn out and need replacement… This way I would end up with the same brake set up as the performance package.

IMO the problem with alcantara on the steering wheel is that alcantara start to look really worn out after a short amount of time. On my track car I would like to have alcantara all the way, but on a street car my preference goes for leather on the steering and seats…

i wouldn't bother, if you want to upgrade there are probably more cost effective ways involving AP etc although you'll lose a bit of standard looks i don't think the composite discs represent good value against performance. i'm sure they are 2k!

yes the alcantara can wear but i clean mine every few months, i'd recommend more for people with sweaty hands.

I think so yes, if you email your car details to the dealer they will confirm.

The pp discs look better I believe!

On a side note, just bought another 30ltrs of MB oil before the from Newcastle before they stop the deal!

You would have thought so!

But no. The 507 I drove certainly didn't have one, which is just ridiculous.
